Just wondering if anyone would know if I can take centre and axles out of el xr8 lsd to fit in to the housing of my Xd falcon be told I can but would like to make sure

Nope. Housings are different.
The lower ratio stuff from the late models do not fit into the earlier higher ratio stuff.

If you get an E series wagon diff , the housing will bolt straight into an XD and the EL centre will fit in.
If you go EF or EL housing you also get the benefit thown in of better brakes.

Many years ago, I fitted a set of EB 2 XR8 diff gears ( 3.27 ) into an XD LSD rear disc brake 2.92 housing....using the original XD LSD centre.....worked like a charm.
The housings where you have trouble, from my understanding, is the 2.77 centred ones....even the diff centres are different for a 2.77 versus a 2.92 or a 3.08.

just found this
i happen to put a el xr6 3.23 ratio lsd center with the el crown bolted on into a holden vk bw75 housing fit but it didnt mesh right so i used the vk crown wheel fits like a glove the best part of the holden was the ford lsd center
