Gday,

When I got home today a few of my mates had rocked up to take a look at my XB, I gave it a but of a rev and a big spurt of fuel came out of the breather line thats hanging out the rear left hand side. Is this normal? Id like to know how much fuel comes out when Im driving around and should there be a 1 way valve to let air in but not let fuel or vapour out?

Thanx

Holley 600, the fuel is coming out of the breather off the tank.

what fuel pump are you using?
does it only happen when you give it a boot? or is it dribbling fuel constantly?

may be either your float level is too high, the needle is sticking, or you've got a freak mechanical fuel pump thats forcing fuel past the needle

if its an electric pump, what is the fuel pressure set at?

Its the original pump. I gave it a boot today and nothing came out but its a little below half. Im not too sure if it constantly dribbles out when the tanks full and im driving.

Should the fuel tank breather/overflow simply be a piece of fuel hose, shouldnt there be some sort of one way valve?

How would the setting of float in the carb cause fuel to come out of the tank breather?

oops.... i was under the impression you meant the fuel bowl breather on the carby

if its coming out of the tank breather when the tank is near full, it might just be fuel sloshing around

there's 2 breathers.... one should go into the top of the filler neck to prevent issues when filling up, the other should go to a charcoal cannister if you've got one

So if thats the case, is there any problem with blocking off the breather thats wasting fuel on the road?
