Hey Boys, just wondering if every1 else's wipers are similar to mine?
slow, weak a** motor, and stop about a quarter away from where they should stop... any idea how to fix this? I've changed the wiper motor 3 times, unfortunately i can only get a hold of these from wreckers because Ford only sell the wiper arm. any advice or opinions on getting my wipers to work Decently would be great fellas!

Trouble is most XD E F G H Wiper racks are stuffed. Spindles are sloppy in the bushes, nylon ball sockets are worn & no parts for these. But there may be hope guy in melb was looking at re manufacturing these parts. He is an ex ford parts guy. I will follow him up & see how he is going.

just an idea but would bending the wiper arm so there is slightly less pressure of them on the glass help? im guessing the wiper motor has to counteract the force of the blade on the glass, so if you lessen the balde on the glass force they might move easier? although you would suffer from a loss of wiping efficency i guess. or can you fit the wiper system from a later falcon like an ef or el and run the apropriate arms or longer blades to compensate? dont know if either option has any viability or not though...

I've had quiet a bit of trouble with the wipers

First the arms snapped and i couldn't get the arms back together (Only right wiper worked)

after i fixed that by replacing arms with a set i picked up at the wreckers i realised i needed new blades as they were simply smearing water around and doing F all! the newer blades caused the wipers to grip too much.

Basically new Rubber on the wipers is too good for the motor in the assembly, im gonna try and work out whether EF/EL or even AU wipers can be put onto an X series and ill post pics up with guidelines

Try running the motor with a 12V battery...see if it goes stupidly quick and moves better than from the controls.

If it does move much better...then what ashcook said.

I hated mine too in my XF. But I rewired the entire car with an EL harness and dash. So now it runs the EL BCM with the EL wiper controls. Works just like an EL does. I didn't touch the wiper motor, its all in the controls.

Well funny that my wipers are rubbish too. The arms in my old XF ute popped off so I just got another set from the wreckers. Fine for an XF plenty of them around....

In the XH2 though its a pain....I haven't gone as far as taking the wiper assembly out but I can tell something is buggered in there. The motor whines likes cow so I guess its probably dying - hope not....A-Bone what did you pay for a wiper motor last time you replaced it? I'm interested in seeing how you solve this because the wipers in my XH2 are rubbish too and would like to do something about them. They just slosh water around and thats with new blades! I was of the impression that XH2 had EL wiring because it has the variable intermmitant wiper switch.

A-Bone - have a look at snap0694's docs, he has written a heap about changing BCM's in X series utes using EF and EL BCM's. Its worth a read and will show you how to wire up.

Thanks XHII V8S

I got the whole assembly from a wreckers out of an XF.

The first problems was the wipers "sloshing" as you said so i got the most expensive blades i could find, they were a bit slimmer than the original ones so i bent the tiny arms that hold it in and they wipe the water fine.

The arms still stop about a quarter up when using the 1st setting. ill attach a pic of where they stop.

Then the left arm fell off the bearing point and i only had a right wiper as that's the one that runs from the motor and the left one just runs off the right one

When i attached the wiper motor i got from the wreckers it was the same so i kept my one thinking it would be better as it was slightly newer.

So basically i have wipers that work ok. they do the job how ever they are very slow in the first setting and make that painfully annoying squeaking noise and i want ones that don't sit a third of the way up my windscreen.

Ill have a look at snap0694's docs.

and hopefully solve this problem and post a doco.

Cheers
