Hi,

I had thought by cleaning up the altinator terminals the altinator would be ok but it seems to have gone good for a while but is now causing issues again. after i cleaned the turminals i got the propper vaultage out of the altinator however now all i get from it is between 2v and 4v. the turminals are ok. i suspect it is faulty, are they fixable or are they best just to replace. i have tried removing turminal and testing from the terminal to the earth and get only what is above

regards

Barry

you can rebuild alternators, bearings and all electrical components but not sure if its really worth it you could probably throw a new one on cheap enough,

its quite likely just brushes - take it out the car, go to an auto electrician, they should be able to put new brushes in for about 20 bux. Did mine about a year ago, from removing it, taking it down to the sparky's, bolting it back in took less than an hour.
