man love the fact you chose the xf to do a build on, about to start a rebuild on my ghia wagon, pitty your in sa as i have a c4 in mine which i am going to remove to fit the t5 conversion, it has a stage 2 shift kit, 2500 converter and v8 clutch pack inside, shifts second real hard, or it did the last time i drove it before the missus killed the engine.

yeah this seems to be a depressing trend. Ive seen so many C4's over in the eastern states practically being given away but had trouble finding a 1/2 decent one here in SA
Suppose ill eventually have to bite the bullet and fork out the $, but for now the spirit of the project is making a fast car for next to nothing by doing all the work myself. So far I have still spent under $1000

How did you fit the 3.9 centre in the 2.77 housing?
I dunno about an EF cluster but the EA sports one fits an XF pretty easily, the wiring isn`t too difficult. I mounted mine on an XG support bracket and used an XG surround. JAIKAI |

It just went straight in I have read numerous posts saying it cant be done or it needs machining to do it but it went in fine, tooth contact and backlash are good. Guess the last test is to see how it drives. {USERNAME} wrote: I dunno about an EF cluster but the EA sports one fits an XF pretty easily, the wiring isn`t too difficult. I was thinking that this might be the easy way. Also got the head ready for the engine now but havent had any time to put it together

{USERNAME} wrote: I'm not clear on what you want to do - are you pulling the dash out ??
The XH instructions should be pretty much the same as XF - don't forget to disconnect the heater cable at the airbox, and to disconnect the earth lead from the LH side of the dash. The handbrake just needs it's upper bracket bolt removed, so you can slightly lower it to remove the dash. Apologies if I'm not on the same wavelength here . . . I think so. At the start of Stockstandards post, he removed the dash to repair a leaking vent at the top of the drivers footwell. To get to that I have to remove the crash pad, instrument cluster and ducting. So far I have taken the crash pad, centre control bezel and instrument cluster out, and have also disconnected everything, heater cable, vacuum hoses, hand brake (i loosened a bolt at one end of an elbow bracket) and have disconnected all the electrical plugs. The ducting moves freely, but I can't get it out of the car. There is a small hook the holds the hand brake assembly up that is connected to the dash. I can't move the hand brake enough to un hook it, and I can't move the ducting back to unhook it either. If confused I can take a pic... Cheers

Good to see mate, good to see other people using bearing blue, so many people look at me funny when I say that Im using it for either blue printing components or doing diff work. Its amazing to see how few people know what it is, its generally the oldies who still use the old methods. 100% thumbs up from RPD

Hopefully by this time next year ill have an XF Falcon. Needs to be 4 Speed man with the carbi 4.1 motor in it. Ideally in that colour called Ghost Gum.
My mate has one. It looks like a wreck on the outside but it goes f#king hard. Motor in it (out of an XE) is worth more than the whole car. The ultimate sleeper. |
