With the old 250 X-flow EFI's the things that can be done are endless. I'm guessing your not bothered about fuel consumption wanting a turbo so I'd stick with the origonal motor and go SICK

well... this is just me speaking, but.... if you could get your hands on a XG falcon ute wiring loom (complete) you could put an EF/L Motor in it, but u'll have to run the standard eb/d MPFI manifold unless you are willing to d**k around with putting a BBM on it... get an EB/D XR6 cam and ecu, you'll need to wire up an external HP Fuel Pump... from that the the posibilitys are endless...

Chris

P.S. if you do this you'll have to run the 3speed auto (unfortunately, but that will match your dif) or you could use the 5speed manual out of the E-series falcon., as the 4speed auto is too fat to fit in the tunnel... i've tried the conversion, if you want the 4speed drill the spot welds on the XG Ute tunnel (and do the same for your X*) and put the tunnel on your car... i hope this has helped you...

Or just use an EF complete loom and go with the XH dash. You can very easily put a BBM capable computer into a non-BBM plug and it will run fine. Add one wire to the computer plug and you will be able to run the BBM.
If you go that way you will need to change the head and taillight plugs - simple colourmatching - and the fan control plug. That's a little harder, but not as hard as getting an XG or XH complete loom.

In any case the early E-series intake will give you some clearance problems.

The power steering will require some editing on the lines, but nothing too major. If you have a hacksaw and flanging tool you can easily do it at home. Radiator - cut the rad support and use an EF/EL radiator, or have the XF side tanks modified to suit the reversed water flow.
I moved the battery into the boot and put the expansion tank in the battery bay, but you could tap it into the heater lines and mount it at the top of the bay as per XG.

Other issues - umm sump will be a problem. I used a hammer to push the front of my sump in a bit to clear the swaybar but it's not a long-term solution. I intend to get hold of an XG swaybar and see if it fits, or the other option is to have the sump engineered to suit.
The engine mounts will need to be EA-ED BTW.

I made up my own intake snorkel out of a combination of EF and Commodore snorkels, but the joy of doing something unusual is you get to be creative :P

I don't understand why an XR6T motor would not fit due to height. Widthwise, maybe but it's the same height as the other motors. Unless you're talking about the BA - that would be too high.

*edit* BTW if ya want photos or anything I can provide.

Both sedans, both manual, both fast! The xfs quicker tho; one day I'll even take em down the strip :P

AU XR6 Motor all the way.

Failing that, have a bonnet bulge fabricated to accept the DOHC turbo 6 :)

It'll look tough and go like F**k STINK!

Not a lot really :) It's just that someone in the market for a hot six isn't going to be persuaded by a V8. Likewise if someone is in the market for a stonkin' V8, a straight six isn't going to be on their shopping list...

Good thinking shaggy, Its just not worth doing a car up unless you have endless passion for it.

If you start saving that much now then youll be able to have a top car by the time your 21

just for thoguth,

being 16 my pocklets obviously arent that deep, im full time employed and im getting a good wage for my age, i really really want my xf to not only look mean but go like s**t too, so that when sum1 looks at my car like its unworthy i can show it really is, without being an immature sod about it. i wanna know an estimated $$$ ammount for an 8 or xr6 or xr6t conversion. now ive talked around 2 mates etc, and they think if i want a turbo i should jut buy a car with a turbo already on it, but my love for the old beast has grown since i can now drive her, and i really want a bit mor ebite wen i press that right foot down, i wanna know wat my cheapest option would be, how much roughly.

like i said my pockets arenmt really that deep, so im askign now so i can get figures and start saving.

p.s: ive been told id have to play with my driveline a fair bit aswell. :?:

cheers ladies and fellers.
