Ok we got the pissy models over here, but in japan they had AWD turbo versions. Them some serious car. I've had two Pintara's, a manual CA20E and a manual KA24E and they were both reliable, cheap to run and pretty tough. The KA24E engines have a heap of torque and are VERY strong and can make big numbers when modded. The 2.4 is a V6 killer, without a doubt. A mate down Geelong way has a Jap import CA18DET AWD U12 Bluebird, and it goes really well. There are a few running around with SR20DET swaps too. www.antrx.com is the place for U12 stuff.....not that you care, but just letting you know

I had one as a company car . It did the job but you always thought you were in a Ford not a Nissan. The only thing that reminded you it was a hybird was Nissan nametags on it.

There's one in Sorell in south-eastern Tasmania, and a couple in Hobart. Quite rare though. The other day I saw one in a van, but it is possible that it might have been a Falcon van converted to Nissan with the grille, badges etc off a ute.

I saw an excellent example of an XF Falcon/Nissan ute in Northcote yesterday......White and in top condition. It was owned by an old couple of which I think may have owned it since new.

I saw a Nissan XF a few years back at my old high school. I wasn't sure what to make of it until I read a Gregory's book on the history of the Falcon and discovered it was in fact genuine.

Those Nissan grille badges would be collector's items now.
From memory, I think the tailgate had a Nissan sticker rather than a badge.

Yeah, it was disproportionately large - probably so that everyone seeing it would know that despite appearances it was a NISSAN and not a Ford, LOL.

I currently drive one. Bought it 2 years ago.
1989 3spd manual - column shift Carby 4.1L body in great condition, put in a tub liner. Knew it was an XF when bought it from a used car dealer. Was the best ute around for the price. Have had trouble free motoring ever since. Searched the internet and found out more about the badge engineering exercise that Ford and Nissan did. The Ford website also says that since Holden stopped making a ute from 1985 for a while, Ford got Nissan to move more units by having a Nissan badged ute. Even though most customers knew that they were buying a Ford. I had trouble explainging what I had to the insurance company but I got it sorted in the end. It's official title is Nissan UTE. Engine bay has the car code XFN (obviously N for Nissan) Hope that give some insight. Weird idea, just like a Toyota Lexen (Commodore) and Holden Apollo (Camry) |
