hey guys
did an oil change on my xf today as it was showing low on oil and was due for one took it for a drive tonight by the time i got back cluster was reading low and flasing but when the motor had few revs behind it it would read normal is this a faulty sensor ? any help would be great thanx

oil pressure was only critical when idleing, but came right up to the normal point when you drove it?
what oil are you running? |

If you also changed the oil filter and used a reasonable quality oil, I'd say the engine's on the way out. Could last for years though. I'd start looking round for an organ donor just in case, you'll find one with bigtime rust/rooted tranny for about $50. I have found doing an engine transplant much easier than isolating a problem like that on an older engine.
You might get away with running straight 50 oil, but you'll risk popping your oil seals on a cold morning... |

Ive heard from plenty of people with this problem and there cars have gone on for years,i even had an xf that would give a low oil pressure and never had a problem,in my own opinion,i think its quit normal for an xf.Or try a thicker oil.

Hey mate i own a 86 xf ute i did have that problem i just went picked up new sensor and she seems perfect now

Its a crossflow.
Do they even have oil pressure? Mine has 40/70 in it now and is ok. Just dont rev it first thing in the morning. Easiest way to fix it is to slap a 351 in there. Thats what Im doing!
