Dose anyone know if the XT Pre-cross flow engine has the same bell housing pattern as the cross flow engines?
I think there was a change from Xm to XP

Wide block and narrow block. I think the XW-XY have the wide block....not sure on earlier ones.

there was a change at XP as they received a bigger tunnel so I should be fine then.
I want to put a Crossflow manual bell bousing on to the 221.

The crossflow bellhousing will fit on a 221.

144 - early 170's had a narrow pattern bellhousing and trans tunnel to suit the 3 speed crashbox & 2 speed auto. When the BW35 was released in the XP, they enlarged the block & tunnel so the 3 speed BW35 will fit.

Late XP 170's, 200, XR 170's, 221, crossflow & pre-crossflow 200 & 250's all have the same bolt pattern - manual or auto....

Don't forget the 188.....XR/XT.
