just wondering if the ZK F/lane / FD LTD with thier premium sound options boxes ticked, included an amplifier as well?

if it did include an Amp, are they the same / similar as the amps put into the xf ghia / zl f-lane when they where equiped with premium sound?

the reason i ask, is my FD left factory with the premium sound, and someone has gone and put a *shudder* holden cassett head unit in there, and blanked off the lower part in a crude fashion. (im not sure what is worse, the holden part, or that its still a cassett head unit!!! lol)

the fe ltd had a 3 din system and the amp was mounted under the centre console

i wasnt aware that the zl / fe was a 3 dinn unit - takes notes for the notepad...

i knew tho that the amp was mounted under the center console, right at the back under the center console compartment.

i managed to get my hands on some of them sales brochures (good old ebay!) for the FD LTD.
found an interesting point,
In the non-EFI brouchure, it mentions premium sound, but not the component that i am after, but open the EFI brochure. and it states that it says that the premium sound option, comes with an AMPLIFIER

interesting that its in the EFI one, and not the pre-efi sales thingy...

for the record, it states that the Amp is a 4x 12W amp!
feel the power, but i guess for 26 odd years old, that was pretty powerfull for its time!

I've got an XF Fairmont ghia and was unaware that there were premium sound upgrades available back in the day.

Is there any way of checking if the XF had this upgrade without taking out the centre console? (Original stereo gone when I bought it!)
