I should clarify my previous post.
The XF in question, was a stock 4.1 carby fed auto with 2.77 dif. It had standard everything!!!! No "sports" Zorst!! No Headers!!! Nothing!!!! Oh yeah and it had 275,000km on the clock. So 180kph was doing well.

ummmm are you guys pulling the piss?? i had a xd and xe both started of as 250s but they were no where near the speeds you guys are talking bout!! i think 175 was it. and im not sure about 5000rpm either, with an auto i dont think they went past 4???

5000rpm with an EFI crossflow motor??? man the highest i've ever reved my ZK fairlane was about 4500rpm, then again, i'm not trying to kill my motor although above 4200 it sounds very unhappy. i was once racing a guy in a VL commodore near oran park and got it upto 200km/hr, (he back off (or ran outa steam) at about 170km/hr) i just wanted to see what the old girl was made of. that was when i still had the old 3spd auto, and reved to about 4300rpm. with 2.77 LSD diff. cya Rene. |

my old rooted XF would do 50kmh @ roughly 4000rpm and 1st (manual) with a 2.92 diff. it sounded good at 2000rpm then 2200 - 3500 it sounded really rattly (worn lifters etc etc) but it started to smooth out at about 4000 and i never really took it over that except for a few accidents on dirt with blips to 5000rpm... i had that XF dyno'd and it made max power (70.2rwkw) at about 3700rpm just like the figures say so theres no point going to 5000rpm unless u get a cam coz ur not making any power.
