Hello all, just joined the forum and am quite new to cars and stuff just finished school but Im thinking of doing a turbo ef build then putting it into my xf wagon, its currently a 4.1L efi with 4sp auto. just wondering if anyone has ever put a turbo sohc into a xf before as I don't recall seeing any only barras. Any tips and pointers would be great. Just a idea at the moment but would like to do it one day soon.

the XF would be a 3 speed auto, not 4 speed.
Easiest way to do it back in the day was buy an XG ute, as the were 4L SOHC from factory and swap looms etc

Sounds like an exciting project you’ve got in mind, especially swapping a turbo SOHC into an XF wagon. You’re right; most people tend to go the Barra route, so your idea is definitely unique and would make for an awesome build. It might be a bit challenging, but with the right planning and some tips from others here, you could pull it off! There are a few things to consider with fitment and compatibility, especially with the wiring and mounts, but this community is a great place to find guidance. Best of luck, and keep us posted if you go ahead with it! |
