I have polished two rocker covers up like this and have found a real easy way to do it. Paint the whole cover first then grab the orbital and sand back the raised ribs. Gives a brushed aluminium look. The heatsheild for the pod was equally as easy. But a bit harder to describe  All I have to get now is a decent sized pod so that the pipe to the throttle body doesn't hinder performance :P

cool, i have done quite a few rockercovers myself, only i do it by hand so its all neat and you dont slip and take all the paint off..

do you sand blast your covers first? if you leave dirty paint underneath not only wont it look good but it will chip off really easy

only shot i have of this one is the progress shot

there is also a bright yellow one which i have always hated and its bloody dirty in the pic

just to help you by showing examples and that there quite easy to do

I have Ford Racing rocker covers on my 400ci V8, and they are polished, with normally black script in the engraved areas, but I changed it to Purple (to match the engine colour) with a fine brush, looks cool and subtle.

good stuff... got any pics?

doing small things like this makes all the difference between a normal underbonnet and a attractive underbonnet

To get the piece of pipe, look in the wreckers for an early falcon with a gas type carby on it. They have a short piece of stock rubber tube on them. Makes life a lot easier. 8-)

Yep she looks like the factory one and goes straight on the throttle body. To go to a 3 inch pod all you need is a piece of 75mm (3inch) tube. This fits right in the tube and right in the pod. I got a bit rough and used a piece of 75mm pvc  . Will change it to a stainless one oneday!

i bought 2 of his cars that he "built" and had to strip them, that pic is one of them, i simply painted it up the side and took a pic, i plan on calling a metal recycler from a fair distance away so it gets plenty of road traveling time for people to read.
