Has anyone fitted 185 / 75 / 14 tyres to a 7" rim? Do they look sh*thouse??? I have a set of 14X7 inch rims and a good set of 185 whitewall tyres I want to use on a 63 XL. I realise 205's would probably be ideal but what would 185's look like? Anyone got a picture?

Isn't this the size and ratio that the old Dunlop Aquajets used to come in, back in the 60's. ie the ones fitted to E-Type jags and similar. Hypo tyre of their day.
Your handling will be s**t, bucket loads of sidewall flex, tred will be too narrow and you will have reduced handling, tyres will lilght up easier as the rubber footprint will be significantly reduced as well. I would venture down the path to suggest that these wheels would not be suitable. 185's = cheese cutters. too bloody narrow.

Would it be any worse than the original 5" rims and cross ply tyres? I would think there would be less sidewall flex as compared to a baggy tyre and the footprint or tread width is exactly the same as it always has been which was never a problem. This isnt a race car, just a cruiser. I'm more concerned about the looks than the handling. If you want a car that handles, you dont buy a 63 Falcon. I dont want the sidewall to be tucking in too far that it's noticeably ugly. The tread measures about 6 inches across so we're only talking half an inch difference each side. Might have to just get one put on and decide after seeing it. Or just buy wider rubber?

GT's Ran ER7014 "jets" on a 14" X 6" That's 205 70 14 I think, 185's on a 5.5" or 6" max.Regards TPVM.

If its only for a weekend crusier or show car the difference in handling wont really matter - I cant see this being the daily driver lol.

Put one 185 tyre on the 7 inch rim and ugly as. Just looked wrong. Bought 205's and they look much better, and to my surprise, still fit under the guards without having to roll them. Tyre shop told me smallest legal size for a 7 inch rim is 195. Even that is getting a bit narrow. Thanks for the comments.
