yeah i've heard quite good things about the ol' thermoquad's and you can't get defected with a standard carby.
i got a 600 holley, it's too small for my 351, and so is the pump, but it pulls hard 0-130km/h.

yeah everyone thinks the thermoquads are good, but u really have to look hard to find someone who can set them up just right these days. I run a Holley 770 Street Avenger, also probably just a little small but does the trick.

I have a 650 spreadbore holley on a 351C and a 450 Squarebore on a 302C. I don't have power figures on either of them.
Working on 85% VE (a respectable street 351) @ 6000rpm, it's only 520cfm. 100% VE @ 8000rpm = 813cfm Using these values my 302 is carbied just right, the 351 is oversize. Not to worry, EFI is getting closer each day.

Are the thermoquads squarebore or spreadbore?

The VE calculators are not the best guideline because carby flow rating are calculated at a vaccum depression. 1.5hg for 4 barrels, and 3hg for 2 barrels. Flowbenches require a restriction to measure flow.
Anything over 1hg of manifold vaccum at WOT is starting to become a restriction. Thermoquads are good carbies but are limited on parts and tuning know how. If setup correctly a thermoquad makes an excellent carby. You can't go wrong with a Holley 3310 750 vac sec, very tuneable carby. |

im running an 830 annular discharge, the thermoquads, or the quadrajets can go really well, but you need to find someone who knows what they are doing with them.
If your going to go with an aftermarket carb, id suggest go for a double pumper over a vac secondary. It gives you more room to improve the combo down the track, however you will need to revise your driving style to suit. |
