Replace the motor with an XE carbi motor, do a little bit of bottom end work, do a heap of head work. put a massive lumpy cam in it & then stroke it. Put a 3 inch exhaust on it & you'll never look back. Trust me, it will sound awesome & go even better. I know from personal experiance! lol

You can go fairly silly (to a point) without a computer change here because they are a mass flow system. There mass flow sensor is pretty dodgy, the vane type, but they are adjustable. I am assuming it is an EEC IV from an XF, not an old Bosch Jetronic or something silly.

It`s completely doable...more money than sense though...
If you have an EFI crossflow, you wont go far with a factory ECU...mild cam,E2 head cleaned up a little, shave for compression(9.3-1) Extractors, 2.1/4" exhaust, quality panel filter, not much more except keeping good tune, clean plugs and filters/oil, etc...outside of that you`ll wanna go aftermarket ECU for a heap of reasons. Fitting a "stage 2" type cam/lifters aint much...$500 with new chain, spend $250-300 on cleaning the head up-nothing major, quick clean and valve lap, get it shaved, reassemble everything your self, assuming all is good you`d expect 140-150hp with an exhaust. box and diff ratio play a big part in the deal too...that`d keep me happy enuff... for a while JAIKAI |

Yep...then try to find a cheap aftermarket ECU...make sure the engines in good shape first...nothing ends up cheap with turbo setups

Its nearly at its limit anyway, stroking it would do nothing dude.. Same as 4litres, notice how nobody strokes them?

Well i thought i would mention it as my mate has an XF & the cam is that 'big' the motor had to be stroked. Dont ask me how it all works, im just going on what he had told me.

Making it longer has a lot of disadvantages and marginal advantages. Overall stroking the 6's is a relatively expensive and futile exercise. Most of the serious 6's modify the bottom ends to try and get around the disadvantage of the already long stroke. Fitting the longer 200ci rods to the 250ci crank with hi-pin pistons improves the rod ratio to help get some more RPM out of them safely. ACL make a couple of special pistons just for this combo. Personally I think their is a real case for destroking the I6 engines.

True...some ppl just say things without thinkin`...you can stroke a crossflow6, no question...you would`nt do it cause of a cam though, someones dreamin`...but for the money and time involved, you`d get a better result working up a 4.0 or a decent V8...both of which will fit...
I think ppl have lost the meaning of the original post...what exhaust and little mods can he do...? that rules out turbo or stroking the engine... JAIKAI |
