The car backfires violented whenever started and continues too. My brother who is a mechanic replaced a badly bent pushrod tonight but it didnt fix anything. What could it be? My brother is coming around tomorrow to have another look but I thought I might ask on here aswell.

nah it was running fine one moment then just started backfiring. I dunno why it bent the pushrod and it starts ok not straight away but eventually.

My experience with these engines tells me that they tend to bend two rods when they bend em not just one. Maybe look for another bent one. Still curiouas to why they bent in the first place tho........... :?

Yeah, for my ten cents I agree with most of the others. Backfiring + bent rods = piss poor timing/a couple of mixed up leads.

Yeh it ended up being a couple of bent rods and something else which I dont know what it was but it was like a cylinder shape and I think the pushrod pushed into this thing and it was cracked and squishy rather then being hard.
