Hi guys
still looking at what motor to go into my xb coupe - heres my choices: 289/302 windsor with 4 spd on gas (but hard to find) 302 clevo, 4spd on gas (easier to find but heavier) xd - xf 250 xflow on gas (easy as to find but whats power like?) ea-ed 6 on gas (easy to find but wiring looks scary as!!) So you can see above there are some issues around each choice, but I'm hoping that you guys running these setups now might give me some idea of mileage running on lpg (this is my only car, I do heaps of kays, so reasonable fuel economy is important) So, any ideas on fuel economy for these? I mean, even if a 302 is like 25% worse than my current 250 2V, its still good!! I just don't want to like double my fuel bill.........

my EB on gas does about 300-350 on a tank(70L) driving carefully but most other people get more like 400+

Thanks for that - how many litres is your tank, (or how much do you normally put in at 350 k's or whatever?) Just trying to get a handle on litres /km, or miles/gallon

I get about 270km from a 52L (?) tank. Pretty sure its a 52L. Expect LPG fuel economy to be a couple of l/100km worse then petrol.

Ive got a 351c with a mild cam and i get 200 ks to 55 litres of gas
keeping in mine that gas expands so u will never really fill the tank |

Im getting 400ks per 70 litres of gas on my 250 pre-crossflow tc cortina, rock stock motor with 2.77 diff and 3 speed auto.
It runs an Impco 200 and a B2 converter, a set up that was bought from the wreckers from two different cars and never tuned. more info here; http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/foru ... hp?t=10934 I would expect an alloy head crossflow to be considerably better. |

351c, auto 300km's on 70lt. EB 4.0 auto 450km's on 65lt tank. Both cars on gas.

If you want to put a injected 4.9 in it, you can buy engine loom's in Sydney. They plug straight into your body loom. Then fuel lines and pump.

Considering that all of these engines, regardless of their age, would be using the same LPG technology ie. airbox fed vapour, really what you are asking is a question about engine efficiency, in which case the EB-ED 4.0L would be the most obvious choice (overhead cams do increase efficiency somewhat over pushrod engines). Outside of that, look at the size of the engine: a V8 will draw a hell of a lot more vapour than a i6 simply because of its capacity.
FYI Average mileage we've gotten out of the cars we've had (my dad and I) on gas: XA 302 Wagon: 260-290km/tank (tank: useful 60l) XC 351 Wagon: 240-270km/tank (useful 60l) 250 crossflow XE (mine): Currently getting close to 380Km/60L, leaned to the max, 14 degrees advance with octane booster (read: water injection w/ethanol - I obviously don't like my engine very much ) Of course, sequential vapour injection or direct gas injection will differ - if they are ever approved.
