Hello- new to board.
I've just re- installed the stock componentry on my XA 302/C4 column auto after checking the upper column bearing. With everything back in place it's like the steering shaft is 1" (25mm) too short. I cant get the steering wheel back on. Any advice- please? (I'm no mechanic). BTW, here;s what I do when I'm not bungling my way thru my car.. http://penciltothemetal.wordpress.com/ |

Is the end of the coloumn all the way throught the firewall or hooked on the hook for the gearbox?

Looks like the shaft has slipped down inside itself.....colapsing column. I think there was a small nylon peg that held it....it may be broken.
