Hi guys!
I used to post to this group a year or two ago and it closed down - great to see it going again!! Anyway, I have an XB coupe currently with a 250 2V and 4 speed on lpg but the 2v is getting a bit tired and I'm looking to replace it - but the replacement must be more powerful and roughly as good on fuel (still lpg) I'm thinking : Carb xflow motor XD, XE? (carb version to avoid nasty wiring hassles) EB would be nice, but what is fit like in an XB? also how yuk is the wiring?? My sentimental fave is a 302 windsor , just that they are getting so hard to find... What have others fitted? Any major probs or whatever to report? Also, if I do go for a manual windsor, will that bolt up to my existing g/box? (single rail) Thanks heaps guys - this site has helped me 3 or 4 times in the past where I was pulling my hair out for info...

I would go for the 351 Clevo in the XB. Plus coupes are hard to come by at a good price. Plus they still fetch a few dollars at swap meets, so you could sell the mtr and head easy enough ghiaman |

More power less fuel ? Must go fuel injected for this senario , but cubic inches mean more horsepower.[/quote]

Mate 302's and 351's are a dime a dozen and if u shop around a bit you can pick them up at a bargin price as far as fuel consumption goes you cant beat gas i was driving my coupe about 300ks a week for about $15-$20 half the price of my XR6 and if you are concerned about the price of a gas set up you can quite easily pick them up second hand and fit some of the components yourself and take it to a gas fitter for the final pie up from the tank. to get good power from a 351 compared to a newer 6 will be a lot cheaper too. just a few points to think about, good luck with it all

Yeah i would go the 351 cleveland under the hood , thats what ive got under my XA coupes bonnet, sounds great.
As for gear boxes, if your going with a 351 clevo i would get rid of the single rail and drop in a toploader. With the conversion you dont have to worry about changing front brakes as long as they are disk's they were the same on the 6 cylinder and v8's, just front suspension (springs and shocks) clevelands are cheap as chips at the moment, just read the trading post or look on ebay. |

Hi guys,
thanks for all the responses - no, I'm not getting rid of it... The 2v is not standard - xy, xa only - but it was in there when I got it... Nothing wrong with clevo's only I seem to have a bad run with them...I suppose, too, I can't be buggered changing front springs - they are heavy Windsors are that little bit lighter... And whatever it is will be on gas

Hows this for being original? BA 5.4 220kw single cammer. Before you flame me to death remember that its just a suggestion and I think its a valid suggestion. Everyones talking about the BOSS motors but give it time and this could be the bargain buy V8.

Love the idea but I have to agree, don't think they would fit, they would be narrower than the BOSS but they are still wide, but if they could fit (large sledge hammer and oxy could work wonders). Just fit one with a blower, the Lightning is a SOHC 16V 4.6L fitted with a Eaton blower. How about a 460, I know that has been flogged heaps too, but think about the fun. Springs aren't that hard to change, if you have the right tools What is your budget?
