Merry Christmas all,
I am considering transplanting a XR6T engine and auto from a BA into my XB. XB currently has a 351C in it and c4 auto, 9inch. Has anyone else done this swap? Im about to rebuild the XB and wanted something different! Have been searching the forums but cant find anything. Any info appreciated. Cheers Gurny |

I picked up a second hand XR6T donk and auto and I was about to start rebuilding a fresh 351C for the XB and thought why not just drop the XR motor in! The ol girl started life with a straight 6 why not go back to one, with a little more juice under the bonnet.....

engine should fit no worries.
EA upper mounts should do the trick. they should fit on the XB lowers.. unsure if the whole Mount bolts to the mounting point on the XB.. if so. use the entire upper and lower EA mount. the mounting hole location form the mount --> engine is the same from EA -> BF and im guessing FG. thne its just wiring.. easy enuf to use the original ecu and get one of the tuner blokes to zap it with thier machine so it runs standalone. its been done here in perth. other places around austrlaia should have a Zappo machine and post pix of progress --> running. good lcuk

This sounds like a great project ,in what style is the car going to done in? sleeper, racer? if it was my project i'd make it ike a XB GS replica in red pepper or something like that, look forward to see how this project goes...Vito.

Its a 74 XB GS hardtop, its been resprayed in a dark metalic blue and retrimmed interior. The paints about 10 years old and I want to redo it eventually as a few spots of rust are starting to appear around the rear wheel arches and it could do with a bare metel respray in a few years. From 10 feet away the paint looks sweet just up close its starting to show its age. I just had the 9 inch diff rebuilt so it will stay!
When I get home I will post some pics of her as she is now. Cheers Gurny |

Hi Guys,
any luck with the swap?? I have a 302 XB ute and I really need to save some money on fuel as I'll soon be doing up to 5000ks a month. I would also be looking to put a 5 or 6 speed manual behind it too, just for the fuel economy. how did you go with the wiring as I still want to run my old dash. any info would be great. cheers |

Im thinking about putting a BA xr6 turbo engine in a XB coupe, along with kitting it with out with RRS products like rack and pinion http://www.rrs-online.com.au/. It'll decrease the value I reckon but its what I want, and don't see my self selling it in the foreseeable future. If anyone has done any of this before and has photo's or any advice, I would appreciate it.
