It's not the CG that is moving by having the nose higher - it's the Roll Centre - the CG of the car will stay put no matter how you adjust the suspension...

In a way you're right but the centre of mass does shift under load during hard corners and braking. Lower the car close to the ground and the roll centre is reduced but the way I see it it's the reason why they set them up to be high at the front, that is to distribute the weight around 50/50 to reduce that heavy front understeer under load.

We're on the same track but not on the same wavelength.

i wouldn't say the xa - xc coupe's are the nicest looking fords, but they are the meanest looking falcon. And i wouldn't say the new falcon's are more comfortable, the seats are getting harder and harder!

LOL! For me, Old > New. Infact, I'm planning on ditching my AU for a mk1 Escort! FordFairmont, old cars have something a new car can never gain, and that is Character!

firstly yes, the AU is ugly. Every time i look at the car i think that, but it drives f**k nice & i forget about that fact. Oh & yes im deeply cut because you dont appreciate AU's

secondly, im glad i got a bite with my drunken post, im very happy. Oh my god, the forum has now turned to s**t !!!!!!!

3rdly, i can very much appreciate the older models. Ive driven a mint XY 302w that was featured in a couple 90's mags, and whilst it sat on the highway like a brick & had a nice note around town it still handled like absolute s**t/ chewed fuel like a f**k/ braked hard like a wrecking ball/ took 5 turns of the steering wheel to go around a corner/ no f**k airbags to save me or my kids lives etc. etc.

whilst i could almost live with that primitive s**t type of car, theres no f**k way its worth more than 10k imo..............period. My point is the market value of these enjoyable heaps of s**t are ridiculous, and its not reflective of what theyre really worth.

Maybe you just cant afford a new car, and continue to drive around in that $1500 XB (in your own words) and gloat how much people throw stupid offers at you that probably arent interested in buying anyway.

I know a few people who had random knobs make ridiculous offers at the petrol station on their XB/XY and get knocked back, but when they actually put the car up for sale for 20-50k they wouldnt get a single phonecall lol

Market Value is what someone is willing to pay. NOT what one person (ie you FordFairmont) thinks the car is worth!

whatever - people have waved hard cash under my nose more than once...its not about value in dollar terms, its about enjoying the car. I'm not sure why you think these cars handle sooo bad and won't stop, turn, etc. I was a cabbie as my second job for years - I used to hop out of cabs which were XF's, then all the E series up to EL's, then the odd AU and yes they went reasonably well, handled OK etc. - but they were NOT the light years ahead that you and others make them out to be. Sure, they were high mileage cabs - but thats kinda the point - if they aren't particularly good when they've got k's under the belt but are still only a few years old, what will they be like when they're 35 years old like my car? I'd hop out of a cab after 12 hours and then into an XY or my XB and there really isn't alot of difference. Fuel economy wise my cars on gas - ditto about the same mileage as the later cars unless you cane it everywhere . Its not about not being able to afford a new car either - any fool can go sign for a payment book - its about the new car being desirable enough in the first place. I don't actually like the looks (or sounds) of the new Falcons - if you do, fine, go buy one. Just don't assume everyone wants one - cos they don't.

i have no issues with older cars, i made a point that probably was put in a way that no one here could understand it

i disagree with the artificially inflated prices of them

the only ones who can legitimately say im full of s**t are the ones who actually have bit the bullet and forked out for one because in their mind they are worth it

i mean, who wouldnt like to cruise around a in a vermillion fire tickled 351 XY ?...... now who wants to take out a 50k loan to buy one??????????

hmm ........ anyone ?????????? what about the f**k dreamers in this thread who put me down? Hey mister EVL098 maybe you can trade in that hacked up Maverick & mortage your house to own one of these awesome cars that are worth every penny !!!??

how big of a hole you trying to dig? if they had built as many coupe's etc as they did au's they wouldn't be as rare/valuable. that's what they are worth and that's that. only 949 xb gt coupe's were built. i'd love one but not practical nor could i afford one, but can still admire

Hey f**k.
As far as cars goes I have actually been there and done that. Had a couple of XY 351's , an XY GS Fairmont , SS hatchback , 1984 Z28 Camaro etc.
Funnily enough I also owned an AU 5.0 Fairmont that I bought with 54000kms on it when it was 3 years old.
The AU didnt brake , didnt handle the light years ahead that you are making out they do.
But at the end of the day you are preaching to people who have actually been there and done that. You comments here much like many of your other comments through the forum resemble the works of one of Josef Fritzels inbreed children. Are you sure you are not one of his inbred kids?
People here have their cars as they enjoy playing with them , hacking them to s**t and enjoying them for what they are. Not the whole newer is better dynamics thing. Maybe you would be a happier camper and fit in better on AFF?
By the way all my other "s**t" had character and were enjoyable to drive. The AU was a bland pile of s**t. It was like a stripper. Feel inlove with what it promised but just didnt deliver.
As far as selling my hacked up Maverick. Do you honestly believe I would find someone stupid enough to buy it? I dont. How about you actually go out and do some serious mods to your AU instead of washing it , have it 100% engineered , approved and legal and then come back and preach to the real men here.
You have kids? Im suprised you could get it up or are you a wanker like Keith Urban?
