Have you removed the front panels and had a look underneath the car behind panels aswell? A donor shell would be really handy for you as your probably gonna need it making sure the main areas you need ( c pillars windscreen outer)as for new parts I'm unsure as to what exactly is available out there I've never taken on such a big job myself

They had the " Continental " pack with the XB's.....looks like that's where they got the chrome trims from for the doors where the vinyl trim is.

The challenger badges look familiar and I've never heard of ford xa b c challengers are they a real thing or has someone just put these badges on a continental?

Fairly certain its legal but you will need a engineers certificate as for cutting the roof off, why don't you just keep it convertable and put a vinyl electric roof on her? Prolly cheaper and easier but may still need eng cert? Best bet would be to contact an engineer and ask them or transport Sa may help you answer some questions (ph) 13 10 84
Are you any good with a welder? Are you able to cut these areas out and reweld some sheet metal ?( eg. Rusted roof gutters, around back window, etc.)

not raining on your parade here mate but keeping it a convertible is NOT a cheap or easy option. Removing the roof from a unibody car makes it very weak - you'd need to reinforce the hell out of it, pretty well build a full chassis under it etc. - even then you'd end up with a weird looking 4 door convertible.. and if you were to weld up the rear doors you'd also need to lengthen the fronts and move the b pillars back to keep the proportions - and it would still look a bit weird..

I'd strongly suggest that even if you are removing the roof to put a newie on, brace the hell out of it before you make any cuts, and support it in as many locations as possible from underneath...

I really have no idea its so complicated I.was just assuming it's cheaper and easier as for the roof cut , I think although I'm not certain he is not cutting the whole roof off at this stage
I cut the roof off my vw fastback and made a ute out of it without any dramas but I did leave the windscreen in and the pillars a &b

A VW has a seperate chassis compaired to an XC Falcon....as for VW Convertibles, they were made stronger in the pan anyway.
Making an XC into a convertible will be more costly than redoing the roof.
