Hey guys. Im looking at purchasing a XE 302 and doing a conversion to my XC 250 Xflow. Will it be a straight swap over ? Can i grab some goodies like Power stearing and all that ? Should i just take out everything including the driveline and do a swap over ? Anything i should look out for ? Thanks!

should all just swap straight in i think even the power steering is a direct swap over

Cheers. Can i use the 6cyl Tailshaft on the XE's Gearbox ? Will i have problems with the extra power ?

should be alright dude you aren't talking masses of power and i beleave the 6 and 8 tail shafts were the same in the xe's but yeah diff won't fit as the xe have coil springs and the xc has leaf

Cheers, thanks for the reply's guys. Just to clarify i should be ok with changing over the engine, tranny, power stearing, Springs ? (Will these be needed ?).

every thing will go strait in bar the diff. I'd also change the front coils to handel the extra weight, the xe coils will also go in although I'd probably buy a new pair.

Hmm, the thing is that the donor car is a wagon. Will i get away with having my 6cyl Tailshaft and Diff until i can efford a new one ? They arnt gonna explode from normal driving are they ?

Not all XE's have coil spring rears (i.e. the utes, pannelvans and wagons still retain the old leaf spring set up). I thought XF was the first coil spring rear end Falcon sedan but I'm probably wrong on that! |

as long as normal isn't nearing redline every shift, it should hold up for a fair while. i've seen a 6cyl XY diff last 3 months in an XC 302 with 351 running gear in it, and that was flogged to s**t day in, day out!

Since the other car is a wagon every thing accept the tailshaft will fit. Your old tailshaft will last no worries unless you do something wild to the motor or flog it to pieces
