The orange XE coupe was listed on Trademe in New Zealand ages ago, apparently it had a EF interior in it. Can't rememeber what it sold for, but in my opinion it just doesn't look right.

Hi all, I agree that just blocking up two back doors is not going to work visually on an XD-F body - I reckon to do this properly you would need to do a few things to make it work visually - 1) lengthen front doors I reckon 2-300 mm - move b pillars back accordingly and shorten rear doors which would be welded shut of course 2) a chop top would be ESSENTIAL - these bodies could do with losing a few inches even as a 4 door! I'm 6 foot 3 and I feel like a midget in my wife's XE - bloody roof's up there in the clouds somewhere...

I reckon probably a 4" chop to make it worthwhile - 2" was the difference between a 4 door and a coupe in XA-C's but the 4 doors in this series looked ok, didn't look like they were crying out for a chop....

I reckon the other thing that would visually make a massive difference would be to remove the window frames from the doors and go pillarless hardtop look - obviously this would be quite involved and would involve new glass but if you lengthen doors then you're looking at new galss anyway. That way you could also eliminate rear quarter glass and even accommodate a slight rake increase at the C pillar to give a more fastback look.

Obviously a lot of work here, also needs engineer's clearance so you'd want to be dedicated - I reckon sit down with photoshop, get the car looking correct proportionally, THEN figure out if it is do-able financial wise and engineering approval wise...if you shortcut this at all you will end up with a pretty awful looking car as the proportions are already a bit weird roof height wise on the standard car - look at the 80's-early 90's fox body mustang as an example of how Ford even got this a bit wrong by not going low enough with the roof height.

Or scrub the whole idea and just buy a decent XA-C coupe - I bet it would work out cheaper....
