i wana put twin pipes on my v8 xd (one either side), but cant because of the petrol tank being to one side, is the best way to replace the tank with one that goes in the middle, if so can anyone recomend a tank or any tips to help. im thinking of modifiing a xy tank so the filler is at the rear, will i have probs with the feul gauge.

not sure if ud be allowed to modify a fuel tank, theres ADR's regarding them, thought about a smaller fuel cell? i know sounds extreme but it should work

ill use any fuel cell , but it needs the filler cap at the rear like an xd and a spare wheel well in it, so i dont loose any boot space. i cant think of any other tanks like that. ive seen a few xd xe with twin pipes
how do they do it.

most run it along the factory lines and either split it just before the rear of the car or run duel's the whole leangth and run one side near the rear bumper to the LHS

i dont think u can run one from the right to the left at the rear because the tank goes from the diff right back to the bumper and left against the springs theres just no room with the current tank.

s**t forgot XD'are leaf, could it be slit just after the diff and run between the tank and diff and out between the spring and out the lhs?

i could maybe sqeeze them out the sides behind the back wheels maybe just, but i love the look of them coming out the back, one eash side, u can spot a v8 a mile away like that

what tanks in there ATM the 80 or the 60? u may be able to put the 60 in there if u have the 80L |

I should go looking but I was reading a magazine recently and saw a ute tank fitted to a XD to fix the problem, I think it was a street Fords mag?
A mate was modifying his XD shell to fit a XA-XC tank so he could run twin pipes, it ended up being scraped but I think he completed that side of it, but it might be a lot different as it also had a XF coil spring setup unstitched and modified to fit, all because he wanted to keep the Victorian rego going and not start with a XE (Personally I would start with a XE) This same mate ended up running pipes each side by the easy way, he went straight gas with the tank fitted behind the rear seat in another XD.

im not sure, ivr never filled it up as i just got it on the road , but u might b on to something, ill check it out.

just thinking out loud,maybe a tank from a xe or xf
will fit,i know the spare wheel in the xf stood upright,wheres the xds in the floor, so the tank is different i wanna start work on this asap, so any help is awesome.
