haha great minds. im currently planning the same for my xf,, sick of those damn door handles.. although rebushing the hinges helped alot.. i havent broken one since (touch wood)
i think most kits could be adapted, as for the panel work.. that could be a little more difficult..

there is also the legal side of things, you need a mechanical way to open at least one door from the outside IIRC..

the doorhandles are an easy fix..... you just gotta keep an eye on adjustment, maintenance, and ffs dont just yank on the handle

Had an XF, in the first 3 months broke 3 door handles. happened to be looking at the factory handbook's lubrication section. Was about lubricating the strikers. Adjusted the doors (bushes were stuffed in the front 1's but left them) and used WD40 on them once a month. Didn't break 1 door handle for the next 3 years that I owned it.

i've had my XF for2.5 years and havent had to replace ANY door handles, the drivers one was a bit 2nd hand when i bought it, but i rebushed the door, lubed the strikers, the internal door mech and made sure everything was adjusted right, and havent had ANY problems, plus the door still opens like a new one

removing the handles makes the car unroadworthy as there must be a mechanical means of opening the door. there are other restrictions that prevent this mod, but thats the main killer right there

one thing to do is remove the handles but leave the locks and then you use the lock on the door opening rod so that when you turn the key it pulls the rod and opens the door , still mechanical, and prevents people from yanking on your doors...
oh and i think only one door has to be mechanically openable so you could completely shave the rest and then have solenoids for them or have the lock on the passenger door so yours just pops with a solenoid...
still legal that way i believe...
just what i would do ....
cheers

Yeah I'm interested in getting rid of the handles for the car. In the last 8 months I've been through 3 on the passenger side. Everytime I fix it my girlfriend yanks on them and breaks them. How can someone not strong enough to close the door properly first time break the damn handle???
