Mate is about to do the transplant removing EFI 6 replacing with Clevo 351 carby (next Thur. - Fri) and was wanting to know if he can remove the EEC.

Does it run anything other than the EFI?

dunno bout the electrics, but the rest is a
piece of piss. temp gauge wiring needs lengthening.

If he is gonna transplant it with a 351 and c10 i gather - the ecu is useless being in there

Have either of you done one of these? ... We were wondering which holes the fuel line has to go through on the front gaurd?

done this a few times the fuel comes in from the left if he is using a C4 he can use the original tail shaft .
He will need to change the wiring for the trans apart from that its all good.

If your going to use a "C" series box you will need to sorce another selector or modify the one for the borgwarner box in there atm, they select on opposite sides

Actually his told me that we're putting in a FMX box....

And we start tomorrow hopefully all goes well with this... I'll put up a couple of pics of the progress... he plans on spraying the bay black whilst the 6 is out...

sell the fmx their a big heavy sloppy trans a C4 is nice and lite and with a shift kit and small stall are bullet proof.

you'll still need to swap the linkages to the opposite sides, FMX and C'series are on the same side which is opposite to the borg warners, FMX is a pretty hard core box!! even is stock form

Well old engine and gearbox out in just under 2 hours on Wednesday... pulled all the wiring back to the fire wall and he chose to respray the engine bay in black which he managed to get done Thursday.



Hoping that we can refit the wiring this arvo (friday) and neaten things up a bit.

My only worry is where all the vacuam tubing goes?

I'll take a couple of pics of the the point on the motor and put them up here for some help with that.

I've got a manual but still a bit unsure which is which as there are three up the front of the motor and one and the rear (each with multiple inlet outlets)

He managed to pick up the FMX (fully rebuilt) from a bloke for $350 as it had been sitting for around for a couple of years and he just wanted the garage space.
So I'm guessing he felt that it was a better option.

Hopefully all will go well putting in the Clevo over the next few days (or week) depending on weather in Melbourne.

Wiring is now complete - A fair amount of stuffing around put in a heap of relay holders and rerouted plenty of wiring so that things are now nice and neat.

Engine and FMX went in last night, bit of a b**ch having to lay the extractors in the engine bay and then pull up and bolt on when engine was half in, everything went pretty well without scratching the paint up.

Only problem is the power steering lines run very close to the extractors and the brake lines from the master seem very close?

Anyone got any idea's on how to deal with this?

Is there a difference between V8 and 6 power steering lines?

And we've got no idea of the placement of vac. tubing for the heater etc. any help with this would be great. He wants to keep the heater system working!

Heat wrap will fix the heat worry's

p/s line will be different(even if very minor), p/s pump is mounted differently/in a different spot

cant help with the heater lines sorry

Thanks 84_Ford we had thought that perhaps heat wrapping maybe an option.

We managed to get the power steering lines to fit on. However I felt that the high pressure line longer than it should have been but after routing in such away as to give 1-3cm gap from the extractors it fitted nicely.

It's the same on the driver side of the car as well and the brake lines... so we'll have to do something about it.

We really need the vac. hose routing which has me totally stumped.

Try and get your hands on a v8 fuel pipe to bring the line into the engine bay. It brings it into the front of the engine bay in front of the shock tower, where the 6 cylinder one beings it in down near where the exhaust is.
