hey guys i have a 4 speed manual in an xf ute and the gear change is real sloppy have pulled shifter out and had a look was wondering if there should be a nylon bush in the selector ?

Yes.....it's shaped like a saddle.
If you find a new one, use Castrol PH ( Zinc Oxide) Grease....specifically for plastics.
