Fitting a pair of electric seats bases from an XF Fairmont Ghia to my XF S Pack Wagon.

I need the function for the 6 wires. That is without doing damage and without pulling apart, has anyone a reference for the colour code for the wires attached to the three seat motors or point me to that info. (6 wires)

Thanks

XF Steve

Thats what the writing said on them - got them on e-bay - they fit perfectly in the floor mounts and the seats fit on the base --""who knows"" 8-)

they were standard on FE LTD's, optional on fairlanes, and afaik, optional on Fairmont Ghia's if you knew what to ask for

you should only need two wire if you have both switches and seats and that is pos+ abd neg- everything else just plugs in if you xf is a fairmontghia (has fairlane dash) it will already have this plug to so you wont need to wire anything up

Thanks guys,

I only got the two seat bases. Got a set of momentary on - centre off - momentary on three position rocker switches and have made up a switch plate in place of the centre console ask tray. Had to take the console out anyway (see previous gear stick thread) and with a bit of trial and error all is now working. The seat bases work a treat.

By the way.

I am driving the seats via the now very redundant cigarette lighter circuit. As the switches are on the console, it was only a matter of cutting the wires to the cigarette lighter and connecting to the seat supply input.

Have only the three rocker switches mounted on the consol with a change over switch. Therefore you cannot drive both seats at the same time. Handy for moving the passenger seat forward from the drivers seat for the back seat passenger.

Hi all,

I will post some pictures when all is finished. I sacrificed the ashtray and left in the coin tray. I have decided to take out the passenger side electric base - its a waste in there 8-) and put back the original. With a bit of cutting and welding I am going to make it into a drivers side unit and fit it to my XD Sedan, after the XF is back on the road..........

Thanks for all the help.

If you are considering fitting the power seat bases to an XF (probably XE XD) ther are two things to consider.

1. The seat will be 42mm higher.
2. You will need to drill an extra mounting hole in the floor pan. It is the front outside hole and it will be inline with that hole 28mm further inboard.

The seat fits directly onto the power base once the complete runner system is removed.

With the seat mounted as at 2 above the seat is comfortably "square" to the driving position.

I also fitted a Momo steering wheel because of the extra seat height and my unyouthly unfit figure 8-)

Cheers

XFSteve
