You can leave it column shift as it just bolts onto the same stopthe t-bar linkage goes. so the gearbox once changed will still accpet column

your best option would be to decide what you want from your van...Then decide either way V8 or 4L 6.

If i were you i would go the injected windsor and 3spd auto or if you dont like the 3spd put the 4 spd in.

Save the money or just buy your conversion parts bit by bit.The fuel injected V8 engines and auto's arent badly priced and can be had for a mere few hundred dollars in running condition.

More than likely you will need a engineers report done because XF's never came out with a V8.You may even need to get an emissions test done???

Cheers Bryan

Personally the v8's simply cool, but it probably would be cheaper to get a 4L and with a 4 speed etc. good running engines and have always held their own against the 8s of the time. and their like bloody rabbits, their f**k everywhere, so they'd cost you jack all, you could probably get a donor ef gli for couple hundred if that.

Legality not to sure emissions wise though it should be better, but you could always gas it to be sure use the grant.
powerwise, I'll leave that up to somebody else to comment on.

If you have a look through the garage I know ashcooks done a cool 351 xf and I think their might be a couple others.

Remember anything after 1986 in the XF's if you put a cleveland in you will need to run it on straight gas, this means removing fuel tank/fuel lines/carby anything related to fuel has to be removed.

Before 1986 you can get them engineered and legally have them registered on petrol.

As for the column you made need to change it to an XG/XH one or if you can find a bench front EA to EL falcon should fit.
