Hey, the temp gauge in my XF is not working, the wiring for it is definatley plugged in, what would be some good ways to check to see if the sensor is working? What are some other things I can try?

Unscrew the temp sender, boil the kettle, stick the sender in it and see what the guage does.
That would be around middle of the range on the guage. |

Try earthing the sender wire, gauge should go all the way to hot. T.P.V.M.

Hi,
As above, grounding the sender wire will test the gauge and wire to the sender, use a multi to test the sender with the engine at running temp. Senders can fail, even a bad thermostat can stop the gauge moving. A service manual should have the resistance at different temps. Regards 96ELGli

I actually fixed this one. The car wasn't getting hot. Lol, the thermostat and the radiator pressure cap were both buggered.
