hey.

Asw you know im looking out for a project car cause i want to build up a v8 and just have a burnout car that looks good.

I am possibly getting a XF i think it is maybe a XE (leaning more to the XF). Its currently a 6 but what trouble would i have to go to here in SA to register a v8 in it. Is it as easy as doing the conversion and submitting a engine number change with the v8 number?

Not quite that easy in an xf stomper :( Firewall is different. I beleive the heater lines foul on the passenger side head so to be legal (cos you need heaters) this has to be modified. Also the xf never came out with the v8 so its gotta go over the pits. Probably easier to buy an xe (already a v8 or convert one) cos these come out as an 8. If you really want an xf then fit the front to the xe. Straight bolt up fit. 8-)

Good luck young fella

If it really is an XF then because im getting it for free, ill fix it up and sell it to get a XD/XE. I hear the XD came out with a 351.

The xe came out with the big clevo as well. Besides the authorities can't tell the difference between a 351 and a 302 externally. They have to do a stroke test.

I did what you were thinking, as my old xf ute motor was worn out, i replaced it with a v8 from an old xb i had. I needed to change the diff to disc brakes, and pass emissions, as well as going over the pits. If you have not bought a car yet, i would definately go with the XD/XE idea. No pits, no emissions, no sound level checks, no kissing a## of the inspectors. Much easier to change panels over. I was lucky, as my ute was one of the early LEADED models. Hope this helps

Cant really add much more.

You see a few XF V8s, but most are XD, XE with XF Front ends.

If its an unleaded XF, i think the unleaded ones have the blinker in the front bumper, it adds more of a headache as you may need cat converters and stuff.
(please correct me if im wrong)
