Hi guys I have just bought a 6 cyl xh falcon an I noticed that when the car reaches operating temperature there is water constantly cycling through the header tank via the small hoses that connect to the back of the expansion tank. Is this normal for the e series engines? I haven’t had much to do with the falcon engines that don’t have a cap on the radiator itself. I’ve changed the thermostat as the old one was had it but the water is still flowing the same.

Any input or experience with this would be much appreciated

As Gazza said, that is normal for this design.

You will also see that the tanks does not need to be "full", mine seems happiest at about 3/4 full - if I overfill it, it just spits it out when it gets hot, and can actually loose more coolant than you'd think. It can sometimes take a while to get the right level.

Cheers,

8-)
