OK so trying to work out why my outback is only reading 3/4 full when at 100% full on both tanks and fuel lights come on early when little amount of fuel is used (its a bit annoying having 120lts and not confident in gauges)
first i would like to check the senders are reading correctly so does anyone know what ohms i should have at full and empty tank (done heaps of searches and could only find xf style)
second i can't work out how the senders switch ?
iv found the relays that switch the pump power and the fuel line switch
it seems that when i run one tank down then switch to the other sometimes it will read low to empty as well
gives me the s**t as i haven't worked out good enough economy figures to push the fuel light

try getting into your instrument cluster codes might be able to check how many liters are in the tank.

but otherwise straight from the factory XH ute manual

empty - 10 ohms
warning lamp illuminates- 28 ohms
1/4- 40.5 ohms
half full - 66 ohms
3/4 - 95 ohms
full- 149 ohms
upper stop (88 degrees) 176 ohms

iv looked everywhere online and can only find e series

I have a hard copy of the original factory manual for the XH ute & Van. Ford part no. wm 37

at a glance I cant see any reference to the outback ute, possible there is a later supplement to this manual as I believe its printed somtime early 96'

but the wires to the main tank fuel sender appear to be.

black / dark green
yellow / dark green


ill have a better look in the next few days im off night shift so bit hard to focus
