I have an 97 xh ute that has no key and need to move it ASAP! I've looked on here and maybe not looking hard enough but I couldn't find any info on how to bypass the smart lock without getting a new barrel or key etc. I just need to know how I can get the ute started so it can be moved! I've removed the steering lock and can turn the motor over but it doesn't fire so if anyone has any info on how to bypass the smart lock please let me know!

put the drivers window down and leave the key in the 'on' position for 30+ minutes (or until the central locking locks and unlocks) and then it should start and run, until you stop it, then you will need to repeat the procedure

If it cranks then the smartlock module just isn't outputing the enable signal to the computer...
Only way to do it is buy a new barrel or buy a smartlock bypass module and fit it... Or... fit an EA MPEFI computer... Cheers, Tim

so i got a new barrel for the ute, what do i have to do now to get it to work!! the ute turns over primes fuel does everything right but doesnt fire.. the smartlock light flashes rapidly. is there a relearning process or something for the smortlock that u have to do? im not completly clear on what to do..

Leave the key on until the light stops flashing. About half an hour.
