Just curious, my brother has just purchased an XH Ute, very nice refined ute, an upgrade on his old XE Sedan. I was wandering did the XH utes come with electric windows? If so can they be used in an XF (virtually identical looking interior) Also, can you use the XH EFI head on an '84 XF bottom end? Its already got an '86 EFI head on it.

power windows - not sure but id imagine so and if not im sure XF ones could be made to fit
head - NO, XG's and XH's used the 4L OHC Motor the same as EB-AU's. If you wanted the new head your would need to do an engine swap using XG mounts and swaybar, and a complete XG/XH Engine Loom. |

i could swear i saw an xh with power windows, and if they arent available, i'd get xf electric windows and a wiring diagram and hook em up, assuming the mounting is the same as xf.

As far as I know there are no power windows in the XGs or XHs .... I have been toying with the idea of using the XF Fairmont Ghia power window motors and other bits and pieces ... and getting E-series power window buttons and using them in the centre console. This is for my XG ute.
As mentioned the XG uses the EB/ED engine ... XH uses EF/EL engine ... from memory.

They all use the EB/ED engine I believe (at least the sixes, not sure about the V8s). Except the XH XRs, which have the Tickford motors straight from the EF/ELs. I can't see the logic in this myself as I'd have thought that if nothing else, the Utes would have benefited more from the added torque of the BBM than the regular family cars.

yea, there are aftermarket kits available, but i reckon the easiest option would be to put the XF regs&motors in, just make sure you've got a good supply of spare motors! lol

There was one XH model that came with power windows, it was the very last of the XHII's and it was one of those special runout models, like the XHII Splash.....something like that.
The XG uses the EBII engine The XH uses the EF engine The XHII uses the EL engine The V8 didn't appear until the XHII and it was only in the XR8 and as an option in the S - The S was auto only with the V8 though. The XF window gear will definitely drop in an XG, not 100% on a XH though. Your only problem may be the wiring to make it all work.

The pics for the XH in the Gregory's manual (EL) clearly show it as having an EB/D-style engine (except in the case of the XR6, which uses the EF/EL version with the BBM). I didn't believe it at first, but then I lifted the bonnet on an XH in a car yard.

Aplogies, my mistake, I was only thinking about the XR models...typing without thinking.
XG - EBII XH - ED XH XR6 - EF XR6 XHII - ED XHII XR6 - EL XR6 XHII XR8 - EL XR8 XHII S - EL 8 of some description ???

I think I have an XR6 rocker cover on my XG.
Not sure why it is on there ... but my mate said somethign about the EBII rocker covers warping due to hotspots (not sure on this). It looks like an EF rocker cover .. and in red too. Me thinks it was swapped ... cos the intake manifold looks like an EB one to me
