Hey all, been an avid reader of the posts and finally joined the site!! Hoping to pick everyones brains on XH utes. My son and I have a definite direction for the project, and have seen some really good custom projects on here that have given us some good ideas. right so first up we just bought an xh xr6 ute that has some issues.
We will start with the gear box. wont go into first yet all the other gears work perfectly! its like it nearly wants to go in to gear but on releasing the clutch it grinds. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume that the other gears engage fine, ie 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse.

If so does the Ute drive alright in the other gears?

If yes to the above then 1st gear is stuffed, rebuild the box or get another one.

Drove it an hour home with out first gear all the others work fine, first nearly engages. Will an xg t5 fit an XH? or alternatively how much approximately is a rebuild?

All the other E series T5's will fit with no issue, or XH. EA 5 speed has lower ratio gears and the AU T5 is longer.

This is a page from "The Gearbox" in the US, http://www.thegearbox.org/T5.html

This one from JEGS in the US, http://www.jegs.com/p/Ford-Racing/T5-Tr ... 9/10002/-1

Ebay, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-T5-Worl ... 0600785925

If you can do it yourself then you are OK, Haynes and Gregorys do manuals for rebuilding T5's.

If you need someone to do it, I am guessing at around $350.00 in Labour, not sure if they would like you supplying your own parts, probably no warrenty.

These people do a 3 hour step by step DVD. http://www.badshoeproductions.com/t5.html

They had downloads available for a fee.
