Hi everyone i'm new here and seeking a bit of advice on a little project of mine. I'm looking at doing a V8 conversion on my 98 Xh xr6. I've got an Au 220kw motor with heads and a cam that I would like to swap into the ute. I have the following questions
What would be the best/cheapest/easiest To use the Au harness and ECU and adapt the harness to run the dash ?? Or source an el V8 harness and Computer and use that ?? Also what other parts will I need to do the job ?? Thanks for any help |

Did you get the gearbox with the V8?
If you try and source an EL V8 wiring loom with ECU, you will need to get computor for the gearbox as well unless you are going mnual. Other option is like you said, use the AU Loom and ECU. You will also need the AU BCM and ignition barrel if using the AUIII ECU/BCM. |

The car is already a manual and will stay that way I've got a manual trans as well. Is it possible to use the Au ECU and keep using the Xh BCM ?? I have a J3 chip for the ECU so the immobiliser shouldn't be an issue. |

The 6 cylinder gearbox will not fit the V8 and V8 manual conversions are as rare as rocking horse s**t.

I know that I've got a v8 box {USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: Did you get the gearbox with the V8? The ECU i'm pretty sure is out of an Au1 not sure what model but. It was running fine in the Series 3 xr8 before removed. The original computer had to be replace due to a fault with the injector drivers. Everything in the car ran fine with the J3 chip connected. |
