Hey All its been a while since i've lurked around on this forum thought i'd come back for some advice.
Been working on a bit of an XP project car ( see pics) tryin to get the body sorted at the moment bit of rust in a few places but i think im only goin for the rat look with this one. Matt black and slammed with some white wallers Anyway my main question is i've got a mate who is getting rid of a reco EFi Alloy head engine and 4 speed manual out of an XE he is doin up how difficult or big of a job is it to swap one of these engines into an XP, and is it likely to cause problems with getting it engineered or anything by having the Efi engine in there. Its currently got a 170 pursuit and 3 speed fordomatic I definitely want to fit a disc brake front end as soon as possible. i've seen the kits available from castlemaine rod shop for this purpose. I've heard HQ calipers fit these kits are they what i should be chasing. Any information or comment on what others have done or seen done to XP's would be appreciated. Thx in advance (sry for the lengthy post ill put up more questions as they spring to mind)

Keep us updated as to how it comes along. |

yep a 2 door would sure be nice , couldn't afford one at the time unfortunately.
This one was local and cheap so i wasn't going to let it go.

I have a 2 door that is my slow project, and what I have done is fitted XY-XW stub axles to the front and running XY/XW discs and brakes. It also gives you the ford 5 stud pattern.

Use the stub axles & brakes off an XF or XG ute, along with the booster & brake master cyl.
The problem with the rear is it will be 4 stud. The XP utes had 5 stud. I think the diffs from XR to XY might fit. The XA onwards are wider again.

Hi, probably too late. Xr and later diffs are too wide. A Centura diff will fit with some bracket changing and rearbrake reworking. Probably better to narrow a Ford LSD to suit your car. You would need to modify later shock mounting plates to suit the narrow springs. Xp disc stubs if you can find them are the way to go. Fit XW rotors and HQ type calipers [WB alloy} should fit and be a better option.

hi matey , if your just going to run the 200 efi all you need is a disc brake front end with drun rear, your best optoins there is to run xf stubs rotors an calipers up front but if you use these an still run the old xp steering you will have to get a bush made up for the tie rod ends due to the xp tie rod is roughly 1/2 inch an the xf is 5/8 i think, an then for the rear grab your self a pair of xp ute axles there five stud, from memory the xf backing plates an a** will bolt up to the xp diff houseing
