Currently considering getting a XY to do up with dad. We think its an XY but we are bad with the models but its got the twin head lights. and says falcon? 500.

What V8 motor will this thing have in it? as name and how big.

Where should i be looking for rust?

Anything cool i can do with it?

Ill post some pics when i go look at it again.

XW and XY are very similar. one way to tell the difference is the front grill. XW's have a square between the headlights (basically a square around the edge of the grill), and XY's are the same, with a bar down the middle.

Back lights are a giveaway,XW has blinker in the middle of the two brake lights,XY just has a blinker and a brake light, thats if it hasn't been changed

mate send a link so we can see it or a photo coz what you say doesnt make that much sense. door skins are differant between the fairmont ,GT, and falc 500 as well but over all shap is the same door skins on a fairmont and GT go all the way to the top and a 500 there is a strip of steel 2inches wide at the top.but maybe at a guess you are looking at a ZD have a look at the compliance plate it will tell you on it what model it is and check that the numbers on the chassy match they should be ontop of the shock tower inside the engine bay
