Hi Again Papa Smurf. I received that last item fine, thanks. :D
Can you tell me anything at all about a steering rack bolt recall that was done on the AUs?
I have a suspicion my XR6 missed out, it makes the clicking noise from the rack and only has one or two recall labels in the drivers door jam. The Fairmont has many on the other hand.
Do you have a number to look for on these labels? Are the bolts still available?
Anything you can tell me would be great, thanks. :D

This update was carried out by dealers a few years ago but, if you go to your local dealer and give them the VIN they can tell straight away. Other than that, take a look at the back of the studs in the X member and see if they have weld on them.

Matey, these parts are expensive to buy genuine, the TFI module is $235.60 ADY 15 and the coil is $184.20 part number EF 12029 A.
I have seen these same items on Ebay new for MUCH less, might be an idea to trawl the site and find something cheaper.

I wouldnt replace the dizzy as bosch no longer make replacements and the aftermarket ones are cheap chinese rubbish. I broke the rotor off the new dizzy i put in on the first start. Plus if your dizzy has already worn in nicely on the cog it should be fine. Just replace the cap and rotor if you are worried about it.

G'Day George, could I get a part number for the transmission mount on an auII 5 speed ?

And in regards to the steering click, my B series Mont suffered from this. Anti-seize on the mounting bolts of the rack fixed it.
Another one of those moments where I informed the people working on my car how to fix a common ford problem they had no solution for lol

Thanks, I'll try that. Any specific anti-seize you recommend?

Removing the bolts won't upset the wheel alignment? Rack won't move?

holy raining dog defecate batman! I'd cast my own before I paid that. Looks like the old auto ones going in lol I knew my manual mount was bad but the other day I had the ute up on the hoiste and could push the box up into the trans tunnel with one hand lol

Thanks George.

In regards to the bolts out of the rack, I can't really comment if they will disturb alignment because I got someone else to do it while getting a wheel alignment. I get pretty regular alignments though due to the poor condition of our states roads. should start sending bills to the rta....

The guy at pedders was pretty rapped, I got the impression that it will be a chargeable fix to a common problem for him. And of course one he will take credit for lol

Hi George,

Just wondering about the price on the front exhaust side cam cap for my BF I6. The one one the oil control valve sits in.

The large ethnic lady that put my engine together didn't do a very good job.

And does Ford retail special tools. Might also need the Camshaft holding tool, part SST 303-778 in the manual.

Those Cam caps are only serviced with the head, if I understand that to be it?
As to the tool, We are NOT supposed to sell tools to non dealers, I don't know how Ford dealers go about that in other states, seeing as FTG is able to buy and sell specific GT products?

You could try Total Tools? http://www.totaltools.com.au/home/w1/i2/

In the image, its the girdle type thing below the part numbered 1.

Sucks if its serviced with the head only... But understandable. Maybe they are all a matched set.

I'll try a tool shop for the other part, I was just wondering.

And don't forget, Darren has a large number of VIN numbers at his disposal.
