Does anyone know how to fix the airbag light, which is flashing in my car upon start up.
I get three flashes, this happens a few times, and the airbag light is on constantly. Thanks. |

you cant fix this stuff easy on BA's
You need to take it to ford so they can put the IDS onto it and detect the error. i hope its not an RCM!

What does your owners manual say the 3 beeps mean?
in teh workshop manual it doesnt say - but you will need it to go to ford to clear the DTC error anyway and when they plug the IDS in it will report teh specific error code also this should be posted in interior mods -

I had this happen about 2 weeks ago in my BA.
The ABS light would come on and stay on once you'd been driving the car for about 15 minutes. Took the car to Ford, they linked the diagnostic to it, and it was a faulty ABS sensor on one of the front wheels. Takes about 45 minutes to changeover. The charge was about $260 but my extended warranty covered it. |

I have been told by my mechanic that it will cost $35 to fix, just plug in the diagnosis compputer and find the fault code.
It has happened on other cars they have had. I have a three month warranty on my car so I can contact the seller if there are any further problems. |

In my case, there was an actual faulty ABS sensor that needed to be replaced. The total cost was about $280 or so, but as I say, the warranty covered it all in my case so it cost me zippo. |

you DON'T need to clear codes with airbag warning, just fix the problem.
You need to be able to find someone who knows what the flashing codes mean. 3 flashes sounds wierd. you sure its not 1 flash pause 2 flashes or something like that? just that codes seem to be groups of 2 flashes.

Hi, check under the drivers seat and make sure all the wiring connectors are pushed in tight. A common problem - loose connector

i have just bought a BA wagon and the air bag light does that too, it flashes three times for a little while then just stays on.
The ABS light comes on too but just stays on

as punisher said, flashes in 2 groups. i recently had an airbag light in my ba after changing to xr seats. the flashes said it was one of three problems, which was sorted by changing the seat base as the pretensioner had gone off in the new seats. have you changed anything on your car recently?

Airbag Light Fault Codes (LFC)
When the Restraints Control Module (RCM) detects a system fault, it will cause the airbag indicator to flash a coded sequence; a lamp fault code (LFC). The code is two digits. The first digit is flashed with a 0.5 second interval between ppulses. There is a 2 second pause before the second digit is flashed which also has a 0.5 second interval between pulses. There is a 5 second pause between each display of an LFC. Each lFC is flashed five times after which the airbag indicator will remain lit for the remainder of the key-on cycle. If there ate multiple LFC's, each LFC will flash in order of priority. A DTC, or Diagnostic Trouble Code, will also register for each LFC. The DTC can only be read by the Diagnostic Tool. Thank you sooo much for this valuable info you posted a long time ago now, so THANK YOU mate.. I have a BA2 XR6 with code 42 flashing meaning " Restraint system- impact sensor status (front impact severity sensor circuit fault) I dont recall crashing into anything ! but I would love your advice on how to proceed on ridding the airback light staying on if you have time.. Or is this a Ford Mechanic sort of necessary type job ? Any input would be very much appreciated Kind regards Denis |
