Really?? At least the FG would still be under warranty......thus, you have a problem which is no problem.

This is the main reason I extended my factory warranty till 2013 on the turbs!! I love being able to just give the car back to Ford if it starts being retarded!! :D

Just checked my BA. Heater is just warm. The ''In" metal pipe under the dash is hot, the return pipe is cool to warm. The controls appear to be working. Under passenger side dash the rod moves OK and changes the airflow fine.
Heater runs slightly warm up until the 2 o'çlock position on the knob. However at 3 o'çlock the fan speed seems to drop and there is a click but air gets cooler not warmer. Air-con is off during this test!

Any ideas?

Dead HIM module? If the heater core is getting hot then it has to be the heater box... If the heater core isn't getting hot then is your heater tap opening up properly?

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks Tim,
I suppose I would have to remove the dash to get at the heater to see if the tap is opening up. As far as I could see the heater box was all inside a plastic shroud. Unless you can suggest a way to check it without dismantling the whole thing?

Your heatertap is in the engine bay isn't it? The pipes duck through the firewall on the driver's side on a BA... I'd have thought the tap would still be in the bay in one of those two hoses perhaps under the intake manifold?

You can diagnose the HIM with Ford's test gear... If it is a HIM then yeah, on a BA it is a dash out job to change it... Also last I heard the HIM is worth around 700 or so bucks on its own... May have changed in that time... But expect that sort of figure...
