I'v heard that if you replace a panel filter with a pod filter u need to get your computer retuned/remaped because of the extra air flow, i had a mate who did this and it stuffed his ecu up resulting in his engine not starting or doing anything

You don't need or have to retune/remap the ECU. Maybe in jap cars where they have an airflow meter. phong =P~

yeah i think your mate done something else stupid to his motor.. as ford computers actually relearn them selves... hense why people reset their computers before a long trip.. gives you better fuel ecconemy if your a hoon driver.

resetting it just puts it back to factory specs..
see as the computers relearn if you plant your foot like a hoon it will adapt to how you drive and give it a bit more fuel then normal, but if your a grandma driver if will lean it out as you dont use the power.. resetting it just makes it reset back to normal fuel etc.. then it will adapt to how you drive. to reset your computer just disconnect your battery for about 30 minutes. some people say 15 others say 30 or 45 minutes. then reconnect and it will run weird for a second then slowly smoothen out. dont rev hard otherwise it will learn to dump fuel. let it idle for about 15 minutes. i think there is a thread or technical document on it |

THANKSmate The ECU will reset, putting everything back to basically "zero". The computer starts from scratch and learns everything all over again. It removes "bad habits" it learned prior the reset. It's like formatting your computer and putting all the programs back in and the computer runs smooth and much better then with all the junk. To reset the ECU, you will need to remove the negative terminal of the battery and let it sit there for about 15mins...or if you really want...undo the negative at night, go to bed and then plug it back in. You will find, when you start the car after a reset, that it will idle rough. Don't rev the engine or else it will start learning bad habits again. phong =P~

have a look through the forums there is a heap of info on what you can do to them, either turbo it or if you dont want forced induction, tickford head, cam, extractors etc...

no. that's because your stock filter was probably still relatively clean, therefore there wasn't much gain. You won't tell the difference between a k&n pod or panel

i did my pod today i have an el ,i just removd the four bolts from the box flange thingy pulled it out, spun the lid around put the pod directly on the stock pipe screwed the clamp tight spun the lid back around and reclipped the air box easy as no cutting required, unless you want holes in the box
parts needed pod,10mm,flat screwy, 15mins max,and a 15mm spanner if you want to remove the pipes strut mount to make it easier You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

This is a pic of the G&D $600 intake that claims hp improvement. As you can see they found on the dyno the tapered intake pipe and 55mm bellmouth airbox lid adaptor was beneficial over a straight 3in pipe.
