I just tried with both bleach and vinegar, and it didn't do much at all.
Got some brown stuff out but to the naked eye it still looks just as bad as before.

I tried the stones and bleach with so so results, then decided to buy a new one.
My reasoning was my EA's tank lower inlet cracked at about the 11 year mark. My EL was past that age and as I read and heard that inlet area is a know failure point( mine did it in my garage) So I went down the preventive maintance route. It looks great now. |

i reckon use hydro acid first, let it soak overnight, then rinse well, soak in petrol for an hour or 2 and then rinse extremely well.. then your coolant bottle should be as good as new, also its a good idea to flush your radiator and piping before you clean it, as i didnt and now i got brown stuff in it again!!!!!

A cooling system flush every year is a good idea, and especially when trying to clean the bottle. I'm going to see if i've got time on sunday to give mine a good clean, i'm tired of it looking so old & crappy. It really lets the engine bay down. Cheers ToranaGuy

I gave mine a clean with some concentrated spary & wipe stuff i bought at bunnings, and got a lot of the crap out of the bottle, but there was some left in it, so i left it soaking the night before the last, and i'll be home tonight to have a look at the results.
I'll post up some pics later. Cheers ToranaGuy

Hey guys. I havnt tried it on the washer bottles but metho and rice and shake works really well on most dirty things I use it on. Pyrex Water pipes and glass ones and stuff along the likes.
Ill give it a go on the tank when I do my coolant next |
