i just bought a 93, ED GLi Classic it has the smartlock light flashing on the dash i didn't get a remote and the central locking doesn't work with key. i can lock and unlock front doors with key if i pull the drivers door button i can hear the motors in all 4 doors go up and down but the doors dobnt unlock . any ideas??

Are the knobs actually moving up and down when you manually lock and unlock the doors? With any of the doors open, when you try locking the door by pressing the button, do they cycle back to the unlocked position?

the passenger rear knob moves none of the others do but i can hear the motors cycling

Sounds like you need to get the door trims off and look at what the actuators are doing first. Maybe they have come adrift? anything could be happening. Look at all of them first and see if all of the actuators are ok. It may be also that the lever that connects to your knob rods have broken, they ARE only plastic.
