Hey guys my EB Console lid fell through so today i thought i would go to the wreckers and get myself an EF Console lid and figure out what i need to do to fit it. I was originally thinking i should use an AU Console lid but they didnt fit.

Heres the doco

First of all i pulled it all apart just to look at the parts and then i realised that these two flaps here need to be cut off or else the only way the lid will go in is to push the flaps in (but then it wont sit square)

So cut the flaps off (i used a rotary tool, being handheld it was easy to do this job).

Once the flaps are gone and the surface is level you can line the lid up and see how you are going to mount it. I sat it square then pulled the lid up to find out where i would need the holes for the EB Bracket.

This is where i made my two holes (yours should be quite similar)

This should be the final result

Well done mate, you really do deserve your Technical Contributor rank :)

Keep the docos coming mate, one day soon we will get Waggin off his a** and give TROYMAN and myself the ability to add these to the tech docs library.

Sure wouldnt be an issue postage should be more than 10 bucks or you got these options

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-EA-EB-ED-FA ... 3caa2016b2

or

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-EF-Centre-C ... 48395e07f4

Both seem to be pretty clean !

Good idea on a simple replacement.
You can use the Futura and up lids too - the only difference to the GLI one is the stitched vinyl cover which fits over it. The higher spec ones are vinyl too, not leather.

I was going to get a Futura lid but the vinyl was lifting off all of the lids after sitting in 40+ Degree weather !
