Hey guys hope this is the right section. I have a Ef fairmont and the power windows have just started paying up.
They work fine when you turn the reds on but as soon as you start the car they stop working also the radio turns off when the car is started, continues to work if I manually turn it back on. So I assume it's a related issue. Any help or ideas would be great. Got stuck this morning driving with the windows down, started raining so had to pull over turn the car off and do them up. Ps sorry if my typing etc is all over the shop, still getting used to this iPhone. |

Possible Ignition Barrel issue.
Remove the cover and check the left hand side of the barrel, the part with the wires soldered to it are fairly common to pry away from the contacts themself. (with the battery disconnected you can 're-stake' them back on. Also, When cranking it is not uncommon for the windows/radio and most accessories to stop working as the largest consumer robs all the power. But if you HAVE to turn the car off and then get to the second click to use the windows, I'd say the barrels faulty.

I just did a quick check where I tried to strat the car in drive, windows worked before I turned the key but stoped afterwards until I turned it back. Cheers thanks for your help |

strange as the fairmonts were wired to have power for 30ish seconds after the car has been turned off.
There could be a relay fault or even the BEM itself,

The windows still work, after it's turned off or before it's turned on, I went out and played aroundand the wipers werent working either, but i've discovered if I turn the key back slightly the windows/wipers will work. So it's def. The barrel
