wow there are many awesome cars like this that ford built and that are slowly coming to light now. The best of course being the 428 Cobra Jet XW built for the ford boss at the time(cant remember his name.)

I watched a special on foxtel awhile ago on the history of the falcon, they stated after the xy phase3 was produced ford made about 5 xa phase4's and the federal gov.was so concerned with these high powered vehicles coming on the market that they told all 3 manufacturers, ford holden and chrysler, that if they continued to produce even quicker cars they would not buy from them to use in there fleet, thus all 3 manufacturers complied.
they did do an interview with a guy in sydney who had a xa phase 4. only 3 remain today so they said. :o

^ all correct...except that there were 4 phase4s. One was destroyed in a raceing car accident, one is owned by a dentist in Sydney (and is driven regularly) the other is owned by a fella in Vic(all the info he will release...and fair enuf too) and the third has dissappeared and is/was quite possibly owned by someone who has no idea about what they own/owned,

the calypso green xa gtho phase iv is the only one with phase 4 on it's compliance plate, all the others just have xa gt,the green one was sold new by a sydney dealer and is in storage in the southern tablelands of nsw,it is also the only one with a vinyl roof, they reckon it could be worth as much as 3.5 million being the only true phase 4 ever to be made

the GT stamp was on the 72 XA.s but was dropped on the 73 models. (Supercars killing people, blah, blah, blah,). They were still very much GT.s (JG33/JG66) but just did not have "GT" on the tag

as Hot40L said the green P4 is parked up somewhere and is not a daily driver. the chick in melbourne story is definitely worth looking at

on the EB SS thing. i have seen some factory paperwork that mentioned SS but i thought it was a typo. will check it out again

EDTVE 12A650A is the unique module number for the Tickford SS Falcon acording the factory manual. there are a few other mentions in the book about the SS - some engine specs, speedo drive gear etc.

on the topic of the phase 4s, my old man had an XA GT in his younger days, and he swears on whatever you can hold him to that though it wanst a phase it had an engine full of phase 4 running gear ( such as crank for example). Since ford had already manufactured most parts, they decided to chuck them in some GTs- not enough to be a complete phase 4, but pretty bloody close! He still says it was the most powerfull car he had ever owned, even more grunt that his BA XR6 mk2 turbo. Much quicket than any PH 3 GTHO he ever went up against. He rckoned it would pull 160 mph very very easily- too easily. Even up a mile long hill with 5 passengers crammed in and a lot of rpm to go... the things you could get away with 30 years ago...

these GT's are known as RPO83 (Regular Production Option #83) and like your old man, had one in my younger foolish days. did not know what it really was at the time, so i dont have it now. Ford fitted the (already) produced go-fast bits onto standard GT's to get rid of the bits. the result is some very special XAGT's are around. i do not know if there was any logic or reason which cars got what bits but things like 4V Hi Comp heads, manual chokes, etc are some clues.

if you find any, post em up
